Katie Jones, CVT
Certified Veterinary Technician
Katie has been working within the equine industry though different avenues over the last ten years. She started out mentoring under Dr. Wilson at the University of Minnesota’s Large Animal Hospital. During this time she build some lasting friendships within the industry that has followed her through the years, as well as solidified her interest in equine medicine. The next few summers saw her working in a variety of places. She spent a summer in Sydney Australia at Randwick Equine Center as a veterinary student internship. This state of the art referral hospital specialized in sport and race horses. She also spent a summer as a groom at Canterbury Park in Shakopee Minnesota where she was directly involved with daily exercise of the 9 race horses that she cared for. During this time she was working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Pre-Veterinary Medicine at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. After attending the U of M she went on to Argosy University to complete her degree in veterinary technology. At the beginning of her vet tech program she started shadowing and volunteering at equine and mix practice throughout Minnesota to gain more experience in the technician role. One of these places was Anoka Equine Veterinary Services, and a few months after shadowing she was hired on. Katie worked at Anoka Equine for 5 years as one of their certified veterinary technicians and anesthesiologists. This growth within the industry lead her to then follow Dr. Turner into his own practice.
Katie is also passionate about creating opportunities for veterinary technicians. She is a co-founder of the Minnesota Equine Veterinary Technician Networking Group, which strives to provide networking and educational opportunities to equine technicians in Minnesota and the surrounding area.
Katie can be found on the weekends trail riding through the sand dunes, playing volleyball, fishing, gardening, competing in O-Mok-See shows, or spending time with family and friends. Katie lives at her dream house with her boyfriend, and her three fur babies (horse Turbo, mini donkey Zoey, and husky Luke).
